10th District Volunteer Fire Department
The 10th District Volunteer Fire Department is a 12,500 SF addition to an existing station that suffered from poor functionality. In the existing building, the apparatus bays separated the operations area from the sleeping areas – which caused significant delays in response time. As the department’s call volume continued to increase, the need for expansion became quickly evident. The additions and renovations to the station resulted in a re-configured building that improves overall functionality and provides desperately needed additional space.
The outcome includes two new apparatus bays for a marine response, a community room for 150, commercial food service, six live-in dorms, four (2) bed bunk rooms, a day room, a fitness center, kitchen, dining area, board room, watch office, individual showers, and numerous support offices. The project has been designed so the station can maintain full operations during construction.
