Lewiston Police Headquarters
MW Studios, in close partnership with Artifex A/E of Bangor, Maine, played a crucial role in conducting a comprehensive needs assessment and master planning exercise for the City of Lewiston, Maine’s Police Department. Faced with the challenge of operating in an outdated and cramped facility situated on a restricted urban site, our team embarked on a journey to evaluate the department’s needs.
Our approach involved an in-depth facilities conditions assessment, exploring possibilities for renovation and expansion, and assessing alternative sites for potential relocation. Ultimately, we presented the city with three viable solutions, each supported by detailed test fits and concepts, showcasing estimated costs, logistical considerations, and benefits and challenges. The outcome was a recommendation constituting the development of a new law enforcement headquarters facility on an undeveloped parcel of land just north of their existing location. This innovative plan not only enhanced public accessibility but also bolstered security measures and provided ample space for a secure parking garage serving multiple city public safety agencies.
