Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company

Location

Bel Air, MD

The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company (VFC) station project involved a comprehensive Existing Conditions Assessment of the 20-year-old facility. This assessment included a detailed review of the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems. MWS conducted an evaluation of the station to ensure compliance with life safety standards, ADA regulations, and NFPA 1500 guidelines.

Collaborating closely with the VFC, MWS assessed the station’s usage and developed their desired program which included an NFPA-compliant Decontamination Room, alongside enhancements to the turnout gear storage. Renovations to the living areas encompassed upgrades to the existing Day Room and Kitchen, which now features an outdoor patio. The bunk area was reconfigured to accommodate eight live-in bunks and two additional open bunk rooms. Furthermore, a new Fitness Room was incorporated into the Mezzanine, with ADA access provided from the second floor of the station.
