Suffolk Public Safety Training Center
MWS is providing master planning and design for a new public safety training center in Suffolk, VA. This innovative facility will occupy 7 acres and be equipped with a range of essential training resources. Key features include a Class “A” burn building, a Class “B” burn building, dedicated classroom and instructional spaces, trench rescue props, a USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) facility, a RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) house, comprehensive storage areas, a training tower, drafting pits, a vehicle extrication pad, a versatile training pad, vehicle storage, and a flashover simulator.
In the initial phase of this project, MWS will concentrate on the design of the Class “A” structural firefighting burn prop, which will be informed by detailed insights from the comprehensive Master Plan. This four-story structure, encompassing approximately 6,500 square feet, will feature six specialized burn rooms on the first and second floors. The facility is designed to provide critical hands-on training opportunities for public safety personnel, enhancing their skills and preparedness for real-world emergencies.
