The East Dover VFC is a major renovation and two story addition to the existing East Dover VFC firehouse. The work seeks to remediate and flood proof the fire house which most notable under went extensive damage during hurricane Sandy. The ground floor has been designed to be submerged up to the design flood elevation, with little to no detriment to the structure. The structure has been designed to withstand tidal flood forces and impacts from ensuing flood debris.

All ground floor surfaces are either reinforced concrete or masonry, making recovery and clean up from flood incursion as simple as possible. Programmatically the ground floor contains, three additional drive through apparatus bays that will be added in addition to renovation work of the existing two primary bays. A new dedicated turnout gear, decontamination area, and SCBA work area will also be added on the ground floor. The second floor, where finishes and utilizes need to be treated in a more common commercial or residential setting contains the primary living and operations program. This consist of administrative offices, a meeting room, shower facilities, kitchen, dining, and lounge area.
