Randallstown Library
This branch of the Baltimore County Library systems ranks as first among users of computers and multi-media. The library found they needed to reorganize and refresh the expansive 25,000 SF building and focus its users on their top need – technology. What was a soft seating area for periodicals was transformed into a gleaming, all-white technology lab, which features 3D printers and Virtual Reality systems and provides an environment where patrons can explore and experiment as makers and artisans.
New finishes and expanses of glass help define the new teen and children’s areas, and vibrant, modern furniture and punchy accent walls pop against a cool gray canvas. The modern symbol of technology in this era is an Apple device – an iPhone, iPad and the interior design reflects the clean lines and neutral base colors so characteristic of their industrial design. An increase in computer stations and wireless access points as well as semi-private areas for laptops and tables will support the community’s need for this technology and continue to allow the community to grow.
