Charles County Animal Shelter
The Charles County Animal Shelter is a roughly 20,000 square foot animal center facility. This shelter will provide housing and care of adoptable animals and will provide a location for incoming animals by either the public or Charles County Animal Control. The building will contain animal holding areas for adoptable animals and animals undergoing treatment, a spay and neuter suite, administration areas, an education center, and sally port of animal control access. The animal areas house dog kennels, cat community and adoption rooms, and small critter rooms. The Education Center will be used for multiple purposes included public outreach/use, spay and neuter clinics, and personnel training. The building is constructed of durable materials to address the heavy usage and the layout and mechanical/plumbing systems are designed to address the health and well-being of both the two-legged and four-legged occupants. The campus will also include a barn with paddock for larger agricultural animals, walking-trails for the staff and animals, and a secure building support area for staff vehicles, deliveries, etc.
