Ribbon Cutting Marks Opening of Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack V in Worcester County

Ribbon Cutting | September 9th, 2025

On September 9th, the Maryland State Police officially opened their new Barrack V and associated facilities in Berlin, Maryland. The ribbon cutting, attended by state officials, community leaders, and our team at MW Studios, marked the culmination of a project designed to expand and modernize law enforcement capabilities on the Eastern Shore.

Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller, joined by MSP Secretary Colonel Roland L. Butler, Jr. and Maryland Department of General Services leadership, presided over the ceremony. In her remarks, Lt. Governor Miller spoke to the significance of the project:

“We stand in a new facility that is built for the future, designed with state-of-the-art technology … This building isn’t just bricks and mortar — the new Barrack V stands as a commitment … that your safety matters.”

What once began as a vision to strengthen public safety on the Eastern Shore now stands as a modern, 24,855-square-foot barrack paired with a 4,450-square-foot garage. Designed to expand and modernize the department’s capabilities, the facility is where training, operations, and forensic science come together under one roof.

Inside, spaces are thoughtfully crafted to support the daily rhythm of troopers and forensic staff: classrooms and training areas to sharpen skills, lab spaces equipped for advanced investigations, fitness facilities for readiness, and dedicated operational zones to keep Maryland’s roads and communities safe. The design honors the architectural traditions of Maryland State Police facilities while embracing the technology and efficiency needed for today and tomorrow.

From the first sketches to the ribbon cutting, it’s been a privilege to partner on a project that enhances public safety and honors the mission of the Maryland State Police. Here’s to the next chapter in Berlin.
