Howard County Public Safety Training Center

Location

Howard County, MD

The main structure of the Howard County Public Safety Training Campus is the 45,000 SF Administration, Fitness & Classroom Building. The building was designed to allocate appropriate amounts of dedicated administration and training space to the Fire / Rescue and Police departments. In order to create a more functional facility and encourage inter-department communication, common, shared spaces were designed throughout the building. Both police and fire administration staff share space on the second floor which includes approximately 10,500 SF of office space. On the lower floor cadets and department personnel utilize roughly 35,000 SF of common spaces such as classrooms, special education spaces, conference rooms, and gymnasiums which include both a defensive/grappling tactics room and a fully functioning health and fitness center. In addition to the Administration building the training center is also home to another dozen buildings and training props designed by our principal staff. Props include confined space, maze building, fire grounds building, extrication pads, driver training, police simulation building, 3 story gas prop training tower, outdoor firing range, and drafting pit.
