Our team was approached by the Grasonville Volunteer Fire Department to assist them in determining the feasibility of expanding upon their existing station. After a comprehensive feasibility study and programming session it was determined that it would be cost prohibitive to modernize the existing structure and that a new, larger station would be required the best approach and yield a more functional station to better server the community.
To accommodate the stations requirement to remain operational during construction we carefully configured the new station on the same site so that the existing building could remain in operation. The new station provides the department with a 17,000 SF building complete with four large drive thru apparatus bays, a commercial kitchen, administrative offices, a large day room, a training classroom. The upper level contains segregated locker and bunk areas large enough to sleep 28 firefighters.
