Manns Woodward Studios was selected to design a new two story fire department for Queen Anne’s County, Maryland. This particular site, located in Church Hill, Maryland, proved to be skewed and unusual. With this in mind and the apparatus turning requirements, our team was able to design a functional station that totals 15,000 SF in size. The two level station was designed with the needs and comfort of the personnel in mind. The first floor provides a large Apparatus Bay with room for five full size apparatus. The lower level also includes extensive room for storage of gear, hose, and EMS supplies, a lobby, and space for a large watch office with a commanding view of the apron and street. The second floor provides the majority of the stations living functions which include (6) live-in dorms, 12 bunks, a day room, kitchen, dining, administrative offices, board room, fitness center and training room. Access to the bays are gained by utilizing strategically placed stair wells and slide poles.
