The Christiana Fire Department is a new 30,000 SF station currently in design. The new facility will provide the department with six new apparatus bays and associated support spaces. The project is located on a gently sloping site at a busy intersection in Christiana, Delaware which has required careful coordination with Delaware’s Department of Transportation. The station is a unique hybrid of career and volunteer staff which will replace an existing facility currently experiencing the same issues as the Elkridge Fire Department. The department’s decision to include a banquet facility for this project stems from the fact that their current building is heavily utilized by community functions and provides the department with more than $50,000 of annual funding; which is expected to significantly increase with a new facility in an improved location.
