Jim Magnuson
Principal Architect

Jim Magnuson, AIA, has greater than two decades of experience in architectural project management, design, and planning services for a wide range of project types, including work for K-12 and higher education, laboratory, healthcare, and municipal clients. Jim has served as design team lead for construction and renovation projects with intricate programs, aggressive schedules, and multiple user groups. Jim has particular experience with complex multi-phase renovations and additions to existing buildings; detailed feasibility, programming, and planning studies; and forensic investigations of existing buildings.

Jim has purposefully focused on developing a unique balance of technical and design skills over the course of his career, and applies both of these perspectives to his work. Jim is integrally involved in the design and detailing of our projects, and is a leader of our technical review and quality assurance review processes. Jim enjoys guiding our staff on materials selection and detailing, and is always available as a resource and mentor.

Jim holds both Bachelor of Professional Studies and a Master of Architecture degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Jim’s work has received two AIA Baltimore design awards.

Jim is a proponent of anything DIY, is an amateur woodworker and a fly fisherman, and enjoys backcountry skiing, cycling, and being outdoors whenever possible.
